Science & health claims · @BelowHeadline

We read past the headline.

I keep seeing the same scary claims about phones, 5G and earbuds. Each article here takes one, reads the studies underneath it, explains the basic science with the researchers' names attached, and then says how sure anyone can be.

How every article works

The full method
  1. The claim

What went viral, paraphrased. No creators named, no accounts shown.

  2. The grain of truth

The strongest case for the worry, stated fairly. Most scary posts start from a real study.

  3. The studies

What the research actually measured, who did it, and what it can and can't tell us.

  4. How sure

A verdict on the Depth Gauge, after the evidence, never before it.

  5. My take

What I do with it, clearly marked as opinion, not evidence.

  • DISPUTED: Good studies disagreeGood studies disagree
  • EARLY: Signals, not answers yetSignals, not answers yet
  • STRONG: Consistent, well-designed evidenceConsistent, well-designed evidence
  • SETTLED: Decades of converging evidenceDecades of converging evidence
